Quite a Week in the Parking Lot
First, Wednesday night one of my co-workers had an arrow shot into the bumper of his car.
This morning we had a little excitement as well. There is a very steep hill above the parking lot next to our building. As you can see, there is a dead tree...
The tree was cut down several weekends ago. Around 10:30am this morning our maintenance man climbed the hill with a chainsaw to dismember said tree. His first mistake was starting to cut the tree from the uphill side. I was walking up the parking lot as he was working his way through the trunk. Just as I passed him he made it all the way through and the log landed on the ground about 25 feet above the parking lot (and the red car)...
Predictably, the log started rolling. Downhill. At almost exactly the same moment our maintenance man let out a wail that would be best described as the cry of a man who sees the water rising after clogging the toilet in the home of his new girlfriend's parents. I think it was at this point that he realized what was about to happen...
Moral: Don't stand on an incline while cutting a round log from the uphill side above a full parking lot at 10:30am on a Friday morning.
