FROM THE 'NO, REALLY?' DEPARTMENT

According to a report from the San Francisco Chronicle BALCO (Bay Area Laboratory Co-Operative) supplied steroids to Barry Bonds, Jason Giambi & Gary Sheffield. Raiders LB Bill Romanowski was also named in the report.

I have a feeling this is just the tip of the iceberg. There have been rumors swirling for years, particularly after Sports Illustrated did an in-depth report when former MVP Ken Caminiti came "clean." SI columnist Rick Reilly challenged Sammy Sosa to take a test a couple of years ago after confronting him with before & after pictures from early in his career. Sosa declined to participate since, at the time, there was no mandatory MLB test. The recently installed MLB testing policy is a joke. The players association made sure that the policy was toothless.

If these reports turn out to be true they should put a big fat asterisk next to Bonds' name in the record book.
